Why your battery drops after iOS 27
Many iPhone owners notice faster battery drain and a warmer phone straight after updating to iOS 27. This is usually normal. After a big update, your iPhone works in the background — re-indexing search, refreshing apps, downloading system files and preparing data for Siri and the new AI features.
How long does it last?
Usually the worst is in the first 24–48 hours, and it can take two or three days on some phones — longer if you have a big photo library.
Quick fixes
- Leave it on charge overnight with Wi-Fi on so background tasks can finish.
- Update your apps in the App Store — older app versions can misbehave on a new iOS.
- Restart your iPhone once.
- Check Settings > Battery to see which apps use the most power.
- Review Location Services and turn off “Always” for apps that don’t need it.
When it’s not the update
If battery life is still poor after about a week, the update probably isn’t the cause. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. If maximum capacity is below 80%, or your phone shuts down suddenly at 20–30%, the battery is worn and needs replacing.
